I am doing an electrical condition assessment report for a hotel, there is a 60 circuit panelboard the has branch circuits on it for various receptacles, lighting, and other loads. Some of the other loads are the pool and spa pumps. My colleague believes that the NEC requires all pool and spa loads to be on their own separate panel, while I believe that so long as the pumps/receptacles/lighting circuits that serve the pool and spa areas have GFCI breakers then they can stay on the panel they are currently on. Can anyone tell me where in Article 680 or any other part of the NEC 2017, that requires hotel/commercial pool equipment circuits to be on a separate panelboard. Thank you for your time and help!

Nothing in there stating any of that. Now it's possible there is maybe some commercial pool requirements in the International Building Code that he might have come across regarding such language,,, but I doubt very much that is the case. Side note- you should watch Mike Holts video about proper way to assess whether a pool is safe or not before you go putting your name to something on paper stating the pool is safe.

Thank you for all the replies! Also, yes macmikeman, I have read up about equipotential bonding and have hired a contractor to perform the tests to be included in the report, thank you for the suggestion!
