I am inspecting a job where they have 3 buildings, owned by the same management, with three separate services for each building, to be used as 2 rental apartments in each building. They propose the idea of one building having three meters, the third being for a house panel. They then want to feed two branch circuits out of this house panel, one going to each of the other two buildings. this one ckt will feed egress lighting in those buildings so the tenants don’t pay for them. I have looked in 225 and 230 and am leaning towards allowing it under 2008 NEC 225.30 D. I would make them group the disconnects, add placards per 225.37, and bond this branch circuit disconnect to the service equipment using a bonding jumper to eliminate any difference in potential. Of course the neutral will remain unbonded at the second building and will only be bonded at the first building. Any comments? Am I missing anything? Thanks.
