250.140 How do clothes dryers pass UL listing with the nuetral conductor bonded to the frame and that connection is not accessable? Ranges have a visible copper strap and instructions for 3 or 4 wire cords. I have seen many clothes dryers wired with a 4 wire cord and the bonding jumper still attached to the green frame screw, (cord installed by appliance delivery boys:grin: ). The manufacture instructions that I have read do not say to remove the green wire from the screw. Am I missing something or what is the proper way to install a 4 wire cord? I always remove the jumper wire from the green frame screw, tape the end and stuff it back up in the dryer and hope the tape never comes off! I used to clip the green wire off where it is crimped on the the white wire, but that is seldom accessable.

I haven't connected one in a while (and maybe two total) but I suspect in the install instructions and a sticker on the back saying there is a phrase like "by qualified personell" that gets UL and the maker off the hook.

But you would think the "appliance delivery boys" would have been taught this by now.

say la vee.
