Just heard on the news. New housing starts are up 22% from January.

That doesn't mean very much, in January there were 5 permits issued and in March there were 6.

Other articles say we are at the lowest point since they started keeping records back in 1959.

If you think about it you would have to be crazy to build a house right now ( unless you just happen to have the money and want a custom home). There is such a glut of homes on the market and deals all over the place.

I may be nuts and this is just an opinion but I don't expect the housing market to come back for years. But the good news is that there are a heck of a lot of them out there that are already built and have been for many years. There is more money to made rewiring/repairing existing homes than there is doing new construction. If they will just start loaning some money on these existing homes there are millions of them that have been trashed.

I believe once the trend starts back upward, the publics confidence will increase alot and spending and lending will resume again. Will it get back to where it was, no, not for a long time, but perhaps to level that will sustain somewhat normal work for us.

Well the jump was the largest recorded in 40 years.

I disagree, right now is the best time to build or buy an existing home. You are never going to find a better deal on both prices and loans.

Truely nothing personal here, but, These two quotes are perfect examples of "is your glass half full, or half empty?" The market is full of opertunities, and there are folks who will take advantage of it.......question is, who is going to wire their house?

Any positive news to keep peeps from panic'n (as we've seen FAR TO MUCH OF) is good news.

Agreed, it is good news.

The stock market heading up is good news.

It will take a lot of good news to get unemployment figures to start heading lower.

If you want to look at some well thought out viewpoints on world resources, go to youtube and do a search for Chris Martenson.
