We work in trash collection rooms in multi-family and are defining a wall mounted panel housing a protected 120vac - 24vac Class2 power supply with related controls on the class2 circuit, connected to a control switch at each floor above with the entire 24vac run, including in the bottom collection room in exposed 16/4 CMR.
While “It’s been done this way for decades” is fun, it's meaningless. My question is how to determinn the box ratings, considering our desire to have knockouts, and use junction boxes in this room as I'm seeing a mirad of different types of boxes installed by electricians.
Many, if not most, have floor drains and a hose bib for cleanup.
Thanks for your feedback. And thank you mike for the info on class2 circuit wiring as it's been helpfull in teaching insoectors and customers.
