I tried to look up a 15 A Circuit breaker rated 480 V ,3 phase , 30mA trip, that would be used to protect a heat trace panel .I came across a HDL36015SPZL , this is a h frame breaker that will come with a shunt trip and earth leakage module.I do not want to use a shunt trip for this application. Is there another alternative circuit breaker? If not how do provide equipment ground fault protection for a 480 volt, 3 phase circuit ?

The only MCCB with an electronic trip unit that didn't use a shunt trip small is Terasaki, a Japanese breaker mfr that specializes in these for the Semiconductor industry, who requires 30mA trips. They are really hard to find in this country now however, because most of the Semiconductor tooling manufacturers moved off shore years ago.

What's your problem with a Shunt Trip? If it's the external wiring, Schneider makes an "Earth Leakage Module" (30ma GF trip unit) that adds onto their PowerPact breakers that uses a 48VDC shunt trip inside the breaker, but the power for it is taken from the line, so no external wiring. In other words it has a shunt trip in the breaker, but you wouldn't know it.
