How does one get credited for college courses in the electrical field that isn't part of any apprenticeship program. Like a one year certification or an applied associates science degree in electrical technology

Towards apprenticeship schooling and work experience with the one year certification in electricity.
Or if I had my aas degree in electricity it says it qualifies me to only have to work two years as journeyman before applying for a masters license.

Harem Scarem,

Are you asking how do you get the state electrical licensing board to accept your college degree as part of your apprenticeship training so you can take the state journeymans test?

If this is what you are trying to do you will have to talk to the state board and have them rule on how much credit to award you.

Here is a link to the State of Utah DOPL electricians page. This link will give you the date and time of the next meeting of the state electrical licensing board.

Feel free to contact me with a PM if you have any other questions.

I have talked to a state board member and I was told they stopped considering the one year certification 3 years ago for hands on training. And bottom line is I need to work for a licensed journeyman for any accountable credit towards a license. Problem is I work nights doing industrial electrical maintenance and have for 10 years and the pays decent compared to what I 've been offered through electrical contractors and they don't see my maintenance experience as a valuable asset to hands on trianing.

Does anyone have a JM or master where you work nights doing industrial electrical maintenance? If you have been working under their supervision (in SC) it will count. Not sure there.
