This is somewhat on the working Saturday topic. What is your limit with regards to meeting customers or potential customers? How late will you meet? Saturdays? Sundays?

Myself, I tend to get a little annoyed when trying to set up an apointment. I get alot of " I get home from work at 6...." I sometimes answer that I get home at 5. It takes them a minute or two to realize what I am saying.

My point is people want a "Free" estimate and yet they make no effort to make themselves available, they just assume you are there for them at any time on any day. They put no value on your time.

I do what I have to do to get the work but sometimes you want to ask them what they do for work and tell them you need to set up an apointment with them during some oddball time.

With a homeowner I won't go to far. It is generally a red flag if they want to dictete an appointment on THEIR schedule.

I take things on a case by case basis though because you NEVER know where that next really good account will come from. Life is funny like that.

when meeting someone, sometime in the morning, OR late at nite
after 11:30 is MY time to "WORK"

I don't generally have a problem with meeting customers before/after hours. Part of the biz sometimes, but then again I don't have to do it that often.

I'll meet later than my regular hours sometimes. I try not to do it any more than necessary, but it does go with the territory.

The free estimate is never free, to keep from paying a dispatch free, for a look see, the job would have to be valued at 2K or more.
