That depends:

What is the voltage and wattage of the light bulb?

Is it fluorescent, compact fluorescent, incandescent, or HID?

Is the light in or near a pool or bath tub?

What size branch circuit is feeding the light bulb?

Is the circuit between the light bulb and the panel properly wired, and grounded?

How many other light bulbs are on the circuit, it may not be safe to change it?

Aren't we supposed to call them "lamps", not "bulbs"?

Re: how many electricians does it take to change a light bul

There are only three (3) types of electricians:

Those that can count and those than can't count.

My other favorite:

Arguing with an electrical inspector is like wrestling a pig in the mud... sooner or later you realize the pig likes it.

I prefer it this way:
There are 10 kinds of people in the world: Those who understand binary numbers and those who do not.

That is a good one, but it only works in writing.

Re: how many electricians does it take to change a light bul

I would tell you exactly how many electricians it takes to change a light bulb, but I will be asked to support that with a code section. Since it is not an NEC issue, I can't, and thus I won't.

However it is an OSHA issue, along with several Federal standards, and it will take at least 8 electricians arguing for 4 days to decide that the standards are too unclear to verify the parameters.

The problem of wrestling with pigs (inspectors/or vice versa) in mud is that we discover that we like it. We wouldn't do it if we didn't.

Statistics can always be broken down to 50%, either yes or no, it did or didn't, it will or won't, you agree or don't.

Re: how many electricians does it take to change a light bul

Bah! Humbug! This question is biased from the get go. The term "electricians" implies more than one electrician.
A quality electrician like myself can not only change a light bulb, but not a heavy one, by myself. But not only that -- I can do one better and REPAIR it.
A case in point. I was working on a stupid sidewalk luminaire. It had a thick glass plate on the top and when you removed it, a little push button would release and shut off the power. The problem was that the glass part of the bulb had cracked in two and it didn't work. I pulled off the glass and gently rearranged the tungsten filament so it again make contact. I pushed the button and it turned on. Case closed.

Don't know about electricians, but it takes three Texas Aggies to change a bulb:

One to hold the bulb, and

Two to turn the ladder!

Re: how many electricians does it take to change a light bul

I was in a plant that took three electricians to change lightbulbs.

One in the bucket, one on the ground, and another one to act as relief and runner so they could operate continuously.

Seemed pretty efficient to me.

I have three nieces who attended Texas A&M, and they can all tell better Aggie jokes than that. :D

We just did a remodel on a large church that had been in a fire. Oh boy.

Anyway... How many Church members does it take to change a light bulb?

"What??? My grandfather donated that light bulb 17 years ago, and now you want to change it?"

Re: how many electricians does it take to change a light bul

Actually we needed 3 electricians last thursday.Man in bucket ,me on ground and 1 to run shut down power. While opening the side hole to check for lost voltage ,sparks started to fly.Problem was broken wire that got moved while removing cover. There i was sitting in bushes and unable to even move.Everything depends on where, how high, how big.
