During a typical Code cycle how many copies do you acquire?
Spiral, softbound, looseleaf, handbook, disk?
Tabbed or no?
Where do you keep them?
How often do you refer to them or just look through them?
What article or table do you refer to most often?
Just wondering about the typical junkie.

Two looseleafs... one in truck, one here next to 'puter.

Cd version as well. it gets moved between laptop on job and desktop.

One in each truck. None at the computer. Whenever I post incorrectly about a code there is usually at least 4 or 5 who can pounce on it within about 5 minutes or sometimes lots less, so no need.

NEC/NECH on comp.(desktops and laptop)
Softcopy in truck and office
Useless mini version in clipboard (more like a metal box with a clip thing on it)
...and there's always "the" link to NFPA

Softcover NEC on the dash.

CD NECH for the computer.

Wait patiently for a inexpensive hardcover NECH from the last Code to show up on eBay to backup the CD as the "backwards compatability" of newer CD versions errode access to the oldest versions.

I usually end up with two softbound editions and a handbook. I usually tab at least one. One always stays home and the others at the office / truck.

I am in the code just about everyday, and usually throughout the entire day. There have been times where I have not opened the code for a day or two and just didn't feel right. Most of my co-workers are convinced I sleep with my code book...

I hang out in Article 250 ALOT - TOO MUCH...

1st copy -soft - always lose this one
2nd copy -stays on dash until it falls apart and the pages I need are the ones that fell out, give this away to first person that asks to borrow my book
3red copy - stays at home on desk until its needed to replace copy 2
4th copy - sometimes this one isn't needed
computer versions - varies, I like the cd version but didn't buy 2005 - been using the online free copy (even though its kinda lousy)

someday when I feel important I'm going to buy a spiral version and get those fancy tabs . . .

Always just one softbound NEC. With my own notes on our State amendments. Too often I've referred to another copy and missed the fact that there was an amendment. Occasionally I'll buy a handbook for some reason.

I have the 2005 NEC and the 2007 California Electrical Code (CEC) on my desk and a 2007 CEC in my truck.
I also have a 2004 CEC and a 2001 CEC on my desk for reference since I still have jobs going on in both of those books.

2005 spiral anaylis of changes spiral at work
2005 loose leaf binder tabbed at work
2005 hardcover handbook tabbed at home
plus one 'code check' elect. in truck

I keep the spiral binder at my desk and a softcover by my easy chair at home the other soft cover is out in the shop on the old desk that everyone uses to fill out paperwork.

1993 hardbound handbook, at home.
2005 hardbound handbook, at my desk
2008 hardbound handbook, waiting for me in mid-Jan to buy!

I don't believe in using the NEC. I make the rules up as I go along. ;)

OK, fine....I'll answer the question. :)

Since I'm a "young'un" I only own the last 3 editions.

Me too - but my state skips every other cycle it seems. So '93, '99, '02, soon '08. All handbook versions, and a PDF on th 'puter for the '02.
