How many of you have this tester?

I agree with jnsane. I always use the one at the police station. My tax dollars at work.;)

What would your liability be if you tested an employee/friend/whatever, and the machine said they are under the legal limit..... Then he goes out and kills someone. The cops do a blood test, and he's over the limit according to their (calibrated) machine......??

Why would that be a concern for only one piece of test equipment sold on that site? What if you tested a circuit for someone and told them it was dead when it wasn't and they were injured or killed?

Most of us put a lot of faith in our test equipment.

These OTC tester are callibrated by finding the nearest wine-o and letting him max it out. "My tax dollars at work" I love that. Get some use out of the products and services that I work hard to pay for.

The difference there is WE are testing the equipment WE are working on. WE are what is known as "Qualified Personnel". Who here has training to properly identify someone who should not drive a motor vehicle? Poeple in our line of work understand the dangers of our line of work, and know about LOTO and such. The mother of 4 kids driving home after a dance recital or Little League game has no protection if you let an employee believe they are under the legal BAC limit, when in fact they aren't. Lawyers would eat you up for an afternoon stack..... you become liable.

All joking aside and in all seriousness......Why take the chance or risk it all to drive after drinking. IMHO if you need a tester to determine whether or not youre under the legal limit chances are youre not. I'm sure its not going to help your case any either if you get pulled over and say "But officer I already used my breathalizer and it says I'm ok to drive." I'm not saying I've never had a drink and then drove but it's been on rare occassion and it had me paranoid. I prefer to be in the comfort of my own home or have a DD before I have a drink. If youre relying solely on your own judgement after reading the meter whats to keep you from saying "oh i'm only .001 over, thatll be ok."
