how many romex 12-2s in a 1 1/2" romex conn?

where would this information be found? theres never any packaging from the supply house. would i have to look at the manufacturers web site? a co-worker was trying to tell me that a connector that size would not be rated for just a few 12-2s or 3s. any truth to that?

If you mean one romex connector 1/2 " ko it says on box that it is good for 2 12-2 romex I forget for 12-3 I think it was one 12-3

I dont know what brand you buy, i was only giving an example of arlingtons connectors.

what about derating?? If you have to derate over 9 cccs to 50% why would a connector be any different than a hole drilled in the top plate.

Because now we have to derate going through an 1-1/2" stud with fireproofing.

There is no firecaulking used on a connector. No derating is necessary.

Only the manufacturers data sheet will tell what combinations it's approved for.

just a practical consideration..... does an inspector have to bless this?
around here, inspectors make a sound like a hairball if there are more
than 3 romex's in a single connector... of any size.

this falls under the heading of "pick your battles..."
