My question this how many taps does the Code permit off the secondary of a transformer.
240.21 covers the protection the conductors, and tap conductors must terminate on a single overcurrent protection device, expect as permitted by 240.21(C) (3), which apply only to industrial installations.
Article 450 3(B) cover the protection of the transformer 600 volts or less. Note 2 of Table 450.3(B), states the secondary overcurrent device shall be permitted to consist of not more than six circuit breakers or six sets of fuses grouped in one location. Again my question is does this rule apply only to services and 240.21(C)(3) Industrial Installation.

Re: How Many Secondary Transformer Taps

To try to make this section a little more clear, Panel 10 has accepted the following language for 240.21(C)
Each set of conductors feeding separate loads shall be permitted to be connected to a transformer secondary, without overcurrent protection at the secondary, as specified in 240.21(C)(1) through (6).
The intent is to make it clear that multiple sets of taps may be made to a transformer. This is found in Proposal 10-57.
