I work for an HVAC company as their electrical wing. I've been acting as the Administrator, Estimator, Manager, and Journeyman. It's too much. I usually have an aversge of 3 small jobs (between 2k to 6k) going at one time, with Furnace and AC connects (comm. and resi.)intermingled with these.
Now the owner wants me to quit wearing the tools and just do estimating and project management. With this he wants me to start bidding on big commercial jobs, as well as the smaller types we've been doing. And also manage them. I have no idea on how to get paid. The owner wants it to be just commission. I'm afraid that we are not doing big enough work yet to make decent pay. I see the potential here but I not sure how to make it work.

Suggestions Please!

My expereince with salemen trying to manage projects is that they usually end up being either a good salesman and a rotten PM or vice versa.
