For those times when the business is slow, what do you do with your labor force? Are there alternatives to downright layoffs, that have worked for you?

Florida is a long ways from here, but I will PM you anyway. e/m.chris kennedy said:Swamped all the time. Please send help!!!
I hope this does not violate the Forum rules but we could use some help down here. I need someone that can run large custom homes.
I could also use a man to help me with the commercial stuff.
PM me.
Thanks
Funny you should mention that. Just friday, had 6 smoke detectors, two TV outlets and one paddle fan installed at my house ! Needed these done for a long time, finally had a chance to get them done. e/m.Davis9 said:Small projects at my house.
If they are willing/able I will find something, either Electrical or not. Most likely Construction related anyways. I think it is good for the younger guys to see/learn a bit of the other trades, legally of course.

It was 15 below zero here this morning. I might be interested.:smile:chris kennedy said:Swamped all the time. Please send help!!!

How is it there now? Here in MD, it seems like spring is going to make an early start (I believe I saw some daffodils sprouting out of the ground in someone's yard the other day).iaov said:It was 15 below zero here this morning. I might be interested.
I don't blame them, PA winter is brutal. But if you are willing to put up with it, I guess the business will find you.mdshunk said:Since I do mostly service, I can't say that I notice any up or down swings with the seasons. The type of work definitely does change with the seasons, however. I the winter, it's often all about service changes, since lots of electricians apparently don't want to do outside work in the winter. I do way more outside work in the winter than I do in the summer, for sure. In the summer, it's lots of remodels. The normal emergency and breakdown work is all year long.
Yes, if available to you, that is always a better option of course than layoffs.Rewire said:I farmed a couple of men out to another GC who had work but no manpower
