Table 220.42 lighting load demand factors shows demand factors for different type of Occupany. We do a lot of warehouse design. I don't feel comfortable to apply demand factor 50% to remainder over 12,500 VA because the lights in warehouse are on all the time.

I have a Stallcup's Electrical Design book that has a chapter for Commercial Calculation. They never apply any demand factor to lighting load except 125% for continous lighting load.

Any thought is appreciated.

The code is a minimum standard. While loading of the indivdual branch circuits supplying the lighting may indeed by continuous and fully loaded, the code feels it is unlikley the total loads of the serivice will continuous. Only you the designer can determine if additional considerations need to be made to ensure good service on a job to job basis.

David, just treat the lighting as a continuous load plus 25%, calculate the remainder separately, then combine.
