Yes, it does not appear thou needest not to labor. Good fortune. More, I would even share it with thee.

I've tried to look up how to get certified as a journeyman in Pa but to no avail. Does anyone have some information on it?

You need to complete the PA apprenticeship program through your employer, then you will receive a certificate that states that you have been recognized by the PA Council as an Electrician, Journeyman Level.
In most cases you need to have this certificate in order to sit for a Journeyman exam (most counties, cities, etc...).

I have a coworker moving to PA, I looked (was it the info at Mikes site on licensing) and thought that PA does not require licensing or permits.
What does PA require for electrician licensing and permits, I would guess permits is by city and or state.

i am in the process trying this myself.i am a journeyman wireman with the local union 24 in balt.md.

i live in pennsylvania.
i have contacted 6 different agencies and have hit a wall at every place.

i have found though that there is no state certification.

there is a certification for inspectors, residential and commercial.in differing grades.and an electrical certification for municipalities.

say you wanted to work in harrisburg.there is a test to take for the city.then if you landed a job in chambersburg, you would have to take a test for that city as well.

stoopid.............i.m.h.o.

seems any joe blow can wire a house here with no certification whatsoever.

Actually that's completely incorrect. Most smaller municipalities will accept a license from a major city such as Phila. Reading will accept the Phila. license however every WORKER must be licensed in Reading. The Phila. test is the ICC; the Reading test is Thomson Prometric. Bethlehem will no longer accept the Phila. license because Phila. will not accept the Bethlehem license but they will accept Reading. West Chester, Kutztown, Pottstown, Wilkes Barre and several others require the ICC test whether you have a Phila. license or not.

I'm not sure about Harrisburg and other areas west but the bottom line is you need to be safe in the Phila. area and suburbs do this:

1. Pass the ICC exam.
2. Get the Phila. license.
3. Use the Phila. license to get Reading's license.

I would like to know what is required in Harrisburg if anyone knows firsthand.
