A local code requires that all pressurization fans be fed with either 2hr FRR cabling or fed in a 2hr enclosure. I'm able to get to the mag. starter with this rating but how can I maintain a 2hr FRR from the mag. starter to the fan?

MI cable or there is some newer product that you can pull in EMT and when subjected to the heat of a fire turns into some sort of ceramic like material.

I'm not sure of the exact verbiage of your specification you might review Article 300.21 specifically in the hand book notes , possibly this may help

Thanks for the posts guys. I should have included this in my original post but this would be subject to the outside enviroment and the connection would be from the starter to the motor thus needing a flexible conduit to make the connection. For standard exterior non emergency connections I would assume use liquid tight flexible conduit, but I don't think you could maintain the 2hr protection using the liquid tight flexible conduit. Any additional suggestions of what could be used would be appreciated.

I don't know any flexable wiring method with a 2 hour fire rating.

Again I believe MI cable is one of the few allowed ways.

It is listed for use pretty much anywhere.

332.10 Uses Permitted.
Type MI cable shall be permitted as follows:

(1) For services, feeders, and branch circuits

(2) For power, lighting, control, and signal circuits

(3) In dry, wet, or continuously moist locations

(4) Indoors or outdoors

(5) Where exposed or concealed

(6) Embedded in plaster, concrete, fill, or other masonry, whether above or below grade

(7) In any hazardous (classified) location

(8) Where exposed to oil and gasoline

(9) Where exposed to corrosive conditions not deteriorating to its sheath

(10) In underground runs where suitably protected against physical damage and corrosive conditions
