Hi Folks.
I want to use rigid aluminum conduit to run conductors from a CLass I, Div II location into an existing unclassified electrical room through a concrete roof slab. I know we need seals on the conduit, but how do you perform this penetration.
I'm thinking of having them core drill the slab and install PVC-coated rigid aluminum (aluminum and concrete don't get on well) for the transition, but how do I seal in the penetration. Will nonshrink grout dry-pack work or is there a possibility of leakage because of different expansion rates between concrete and aluminum? I'm actuall kind of nervous about it. This is in the headworks for wastewater treatment plant, BTW.
Is there some sort of sleeve or escutcheon used for this type of work?
Regards.
