I have a switch boards which have got two supplies:
- Mains supply 800 KVA from utility company
- 500 Supply from standby Genset
There is Automatic mains failure (AMF). So in case there is a power failure, the generator is automatically kicking on.
But I have the following problem because my Genset can not take the full 800 KVA,
- I am aware that I could add Bus Couplers CB and divide it into essential/priority load and non essential/non priority load. And In case of power failure, the bus coupler will open and generator will only need to supply Essential load.
However, I do not want to do this as I prefer to do it by controlling the outgoing ways from the switchboards. So, In case there is a power failure, I will open some MCCBs which supply the non essential load. If the mains is restored, the MCCB shall manually/automatically be closed again. Is that any way to dot this?.
I have heard about put shunt trip, under voltage relay but do not how they work to solve this problem. Any advice will be greatly appreciated.
