I came across the terms HRC and H/RC is there a difference between the two and if so when are they used ? One is used with ppe I think.

I don't know about there but here (UK) HRC is used for fuses.
High Rupturing Capacity.

HRC (Hazard Risk Category) associated with electrical task tables in NFPA 70E. The upcoming revision I believe is changing this to Arc Hazard Category (AHC) for PPE selection.
