I live barbados and we have recently moved to your international electrical code .

my question how is the installation of conduits for HT cables. Does your code require clay or red tiles on top of the conduits before back filling or just a caution tape over the conduits is good enough.

Re: ht conduits

This forum is regarding issues relating to the NEC not the IEC.
However, many of the installation requirements will be similar.
First of all, what is HT Cable and what is the application?

Re: ht conduits

HT- is the same as high Tension or high Voltage from the power company.

answer as it relates to the NEC

Re: ht conduits

the application is to feed Low Voltage transformers from high voltage cables on domestic properity.

Re: ht conduits

The NEC does not require protection. If its a service entrance cable then a warning ribbon is required for either conduit or cable.
I like to see both conduit and cable backfilled with sand, it identifies when you are hand digging and are near the cable.
While direct bury cable can be used, often a concrete encased duct bank is used. Its a design and cost issue.
