HVAC equipment ground

Are we required by code to install an equipment ground to HVAC equipment or does the emt conduit being bonded to both sides exempt us from the requirement? Can someone please help. For example a 92 amp 3 phase 208 HVAC installing 3 #2 conductors in a 1" conduit meets maximum conduit fill or do I have to go to 1-1/4" conduit and install my #8 grounding conductor also?

There are some special circumstances where a wire EGC is required but HVAC eqiupment is not one of them. (assuming article 250 approved raceway for use as EGC - EMT, RMC, etc)

As long as you don't use a flexible raceway in conjunction with the EMT then you're fine with the EMT as the EGC. Also #3 THHN conductors are rated for 100 amps.

For the purpose of semantics, EMT conduit with approved fittings properly tightened IS an equipment grounding conductor, not an exemption.
