Why are hydro-tub double insulated motors equipped with a bonding lug?

Probably because somewhere there is an inspector that wants the motor bonded.:D

I wonder if it is actually bonded to the metal of the motor inside the plastic casing. I bet it is and this would inturn bond the metal screws of the casing?????

Yeah, either bond the plastic pipe or go with Chris's answer. Either way someone will be confused.

Got a picture? Never saw a double insulated motor with a bond lug. The handbook commentary even warns against trying to bond a double insulated tub motor (maybe hot tub motor, I forget). I've seen "Class DP" motors with a bond lug, which people sometimes mistakenly think are double insulated motors.
