Hydrogen Detection Products

This may be the wrong place for this question ... however ... I have a number of VRLA battery powered inverter systems with stand alone hydrogen detection that reports to the dispatch center via a contact closure interfaced to the FIre Alarm system. My problem is that the systems that were installed have sensors that do not give consistant test results. We're exploring other options. (I'm hesitant to mention what brand these are in a public forum.) What brand hydrogen detection products can you recommend? Typically the 200 square foot rooms have one or two sensors reporting to the local control module.

What did tech-support suggest?

Is there a listing standard, requiring field evaluation?

My guess is room ventilation & sensor location are important variables.

We have had good luck so far by phasing in the Teledyne DM-700. Easy programming and calibrations. We dont specifically use for Hydrogen here but have many other gases that we do test for. Calibrations every quarter and a sensor life of 1.5-3 years depending on gases.

We test by gas right on the sensor, per the manufacturer's procedures, so we're not talking about placement of sensors. Tech support sent someone out to the site and they got some to pass, others NO. The real issue is the testing wasn't reliable. It will detect hydrogen once and then you retest and it fails to detect their gas all on same day.

Thanks, I'll take a look.
