680.71 says "readily accessible" for its gfci. Would that mean that the dead font would need to be exposed somewhere in the bathroom or in a cabinet or a gfci breaker in the panel and not placed in the service access opening if a tool is required to open that access opening. If no tool is needed to open that access opening it can be placed there ?

Does the switch control for the hydromassage bath tub need to have the gfci protection in its circuit, or does the gfci just need to protect the hydromassage motor?

The control switch for the hydromassage? If a timer is install in leu of a switch , is that switch/ timer still considered a service switch? Placement of the timer/switch, 680.70 says Vll does not require to comply with other parts of article 680.
680.72 says "switches" not directly associated with the hydromassage shall be installed in accordance with chapters 1 through 4.
Where does that leave the placement of the control switch/timer for the hydromassage bath tub? Like a regular shower or bath tub can it be placed right outside of the tub area so like a regular shower or tub , you could be standing or sitting in the tub and turn the tub on and off ?
Switches for luminaries, both above the unit or controlling other lighting in the bathroom. Not gfci protected. Can they to be placed right outside the tub so you could stand or sit in the tub and turn lights on and off ?

Firstly, a switch is not required as the hydromassage tub has a cord and plug and that would be the disconnect. The dead front outside the tub area is a convenience to the customer and also a means to get gfci protection for the tub.

Does the switch control for the hydromassage bath tub need to have the gfci protection in its circuit, or does the gfci just need to protect the hydromassage motor?
No the switch does not have to be gfci protected as long as it does not switch the motor ahead of the gfci.

I don't believe a timer is an acceptable disconnect ---430.109

No regulation on placement of the switch unless it is used as the motor disconnect

Thank you

Been a while, thought they where hard wired, thanks for the clarification.

No the switch does not have to be gfci protected as long as it does not switch the motor ahead of the gfci.

This is not acceptable ?
ocp>switch/timer>gfci>motor

But this is?
ocp>gfci>switch/timer?motor or ocp/gfci>switch/timer>motor

But as you mentioned, there will be a chord and plug. thanks
