Had a customer call about some lights we installed not working when my guy gets there its a photo cell bad but its one we did not install but the customer swears we did and it should still be under warranty. I didn't want to fight over it so we replaced it. The guy who did the work almost a year ago is gone and the paperwork shows a photo cell but it was for different lights. I hate loosing a customer and then have them trash you to everybody they meet so I guess I have to eat this one.

Sounds like you did a good thing. Sometimes it's not worth winning the battle when you end up losing the war.

I rather loose some money but preserve the reputation and customer.

never had a problem such as yours, but several years ago i went to court with a guy we had done service work for , and when the judge asked him about the work and statement, he denyed we had even worked for him. didn,t have service tech in court with me, only supporting paper work, so judge dismissed case. a couple of years later i learner this guy worked in the county court system. I hate to loose an honest debt, but have learned to look at the big picture. Many more good customers over the years than a few A holes.
