It took about 15 minutes to get used to then I read the installation instructions and now I am over it. What is up with the option to terminate the aluminum bond wire???? Does the device have to be alcu?? Can it go to a regular ground screw?? I think I know why mfgs are putting two threaded ground screw holes in thier boxes now. Btw it was for the BIG Blue Box by me.

What is an MCAP?

Educated guess (with a little help from Google!):

Huh? Why would you do that? The bond wire is supposed to be cut off. That's the whole point of MC-Ap - to eliminate EGC terminations.

I'll take the old way....I want the raceway and the EGC...and I dont use those push in connectors either. BUT when I bid against you, you'll get the job, cuz it will be cheaper

So, tell me, if you use the MCap, and depend upon the sheath for the EGC, are the push in connectors a legal ground? I wouldnt think so, but you never know about UL

Metal-clad cable connectors for use with metal-clad interlocking armor ground cable, corrugated aluminum or copper tube, or smooth aluminum tube, are considered suitable for grounding for use in circuits over and under 250 V and where installed in accordance with ANSI/NFPA 70, "National Electrical Code." Per UL White Book.

They actually test the armor and connector fault path to higher standards then copper EGCs

You must use connectors specifically listed and tested for MCap, and yes some of those are push in and have passed testing for ground faults.

Go here if you would like to see videos of the tests.

although I haven't used this stuff yet, I was pleased when it came out. It seems like the wire companies are striving for a more idiot proof cable, and I am all for that. I know several guys that have been permanently disabled from live mc hits.

Of course, I would imagine that the same guys who don't want to see conduit used as a grounding path are going to have the same objection to this cable (?) (Which leads me to a side issue question - Do the guys that object to set screw emt connections have a similar objection to compression connectors ?)
