Hello Friends!
I have a cooker hood to install in residential building kitchens, but there is a problem. The location of cooker switch is very close and just above the cooker plate (hot plate). The height of switch is maximum 30 cm and surely it will damage the switch as the switch is molded plastic type. All I want to know if there are any standards recommended for this kind of situation and what should be the height of the switch. Any other inputs will be appreciated.

Mohammad,

I'm having a difficult time imagining your installation. Is the equipment you're describing in the US or EU or maybe somewhere else? Here in the US (and what I've seen in the EU) hood fans or ventilator fans have their own switch built into the hood unit itself and can provide speed control for the fan and sometimes light control as well. It sounds like your fan is controlled by a wall switch, is that correct? Also, we would need to know what country it's being installed in so that someone with the knowledge of the local codes could answer your question about distances. If it's a wall switch, it would seem unusual that it would be placed directly over the cooktop area...
