Found these yesterday under a deck. Distress sale by bank that a landlord picked up to turn into a rental.

This used to be energized:

And the previous HO had changed it to this:

Just inches away from the edge of a deck. Some kid come along and grab under there and they'd get lit up.

Is it on a separate breaker? I would say a generator back feed that someone obviously didn't know how to do.

I found a twenty foot 12/2 MC "suicide" cable (male attachment plugs both ends) in a Walmart a few years back. It was being used to back feed an EXIT sign in the stockroom.

None of those things stop people from doing work like this. You can either have freedom or tyranny. I choose freedom.

A license does not the employee make.

Picture in your mind: unqualified apprentices legally in training, unqualified General-contractor labor legally doing electrical, and unqualified indepentant contractors also exempt from electrical certifications.

The playing field is getting leveled as the License board in my State estimates 50% of all licenses in all trades declare themselves exempt from workers comp. & employee certifications, but are doing projects that require qualified employees.

The underground economy is closer to 100% kaoss, but most licensed GC helpers, and 1/2 the electrical masters have already leveled that playing field, with their unskilled laborers.
