Installing various pool motors for different items in pool. 240v vacuum booster pump, variable speed filter motor, Jandy ionizer motor bubbler pump for spa......I assume in 2008 code they are all GFCI connected . Thoughts on this....I know it is an issue that comes up at each code change and the pool installers try to knock it down because they don't like to add any freight to there already high prices for a pool install, and because they are seasonal up here in Jersey and want to capture as much as possible during this seasonal commodity.
Lights GFCI
Pump GFCI 120/240 code or hardwire
Other motors???
Receptacles GFCI
Pool heater gas ???
 
What is the question. The pool heater does not appear to require GFCI-- 680.9 although it must be connected to the equipotential bonding system. All equipment must be bonded together if they are metallic.

Hi Guys,

My original question was do all motors require GFCI for swimming pool and spa?
AND YOU GUYS ANSWERED MY INTERPRETATION, the pool heater doesn't need GFCI...
