Does anyone know how accurate the depth detection feature of the IDEAL 62-135 underground cable location kit is? I have been using this tool for over 20-years but never for determining depth. The instructions say to hold receiver at 45-degrees. So I guess it uses some kind of triangularization calculation. 😀

I can get a relatively good swag with mine by how much gain I use, but type of soil, concrete thickness can make a difference. I can usually get within 12”, even closer if it is shallower.
 
I'm needing that reps # if you could fwd that to me Racevalor. I have one of these units and my transmitter went dead. Need to see if they have any parts for this unit still. Also would like to get a manual for this ideal 62-135 underground cable locator.

I can get you a copy of the manual but have never been able to find a rep.
If you have a Maker Space in your area some of those folks are electronics savvy.
 
The idea is to locate at a 45 on both sides marking the location spot. The distance between the two is equal to the depth.

I love a pipehorn. They would triangulate and be within 3”-4”. The older ones are better in my opinion, but then again I haven’t used the newest one out there.
