IEEE C2 15 KV cable

This is in relation to 15 kv cable for an underground installation...My spec states "The shield tape shall be sized to meet IEEE C2 requirements for a ground fault availability of 25,000 amperes. This is a 3 conductor #2 with a #6 ground.

How many cycles do I need for 25,000 amperes.

What type of shield tape is needed for this requirement.

I would be interested in where the 25000 amps came from. Sounds like CYA
engineering. Looks like you max is just over 1 cycle. What are you supposed to do if the OC device
can not open in this time? Did the engineer select one that can?
