As I listed earlier....ground rounds and uf cable ive come up with a few others while drinking beer at the local bar this evening
- SE-U (Id much rather use SE-R)
- Mice (squeezing there body threw a knockout and raising hell and leaving presents)
- People who say "all you gotta do.....or it should only take 10 minutes"
- Carrying 4" rigid
- People who put (3) #12 and (2) #14 in a s-g box.
- dropping panel screws into the mess of junk they stash underneath

more to come those are all i can remember right now.

But let me tell you what happend to me with a ground rod maybe its happend to you guys in your experience. Well I grab the rod the 3 foot hollow rod driver or whatever you call it and the sledge. Im goin to town on this thing. Ground is hard as all hell rocks, roots whatever. Arm throbbing out of breath I keeping fightin with this thing......finally im done.......nope i turn around a 5 feet of this rod is sticking out of the ground almost straight up. I guess it hit some sort of ledge and it redirected it up. To make a long story short lets just say that perticular service only has 2 or 3 feet of rod on 1 side.

Sounds like a nice time to measure what you've got in the ground and hope it measures <25 ohms.

Ground rod came back up perfectly straight? C'mon!

All I can say is, "Welcome to the club, sonny!"

Yes I had that happen when I drove the rods for my pool house. I left the hilti running and it stopped so I had my son hold the rod with channel locks as I slammed it with the hammer. It popped up over a few feet.

I'v had 'em come back up, too. TE905s make it easy to do. But never had one come back "straight up".

Saw a video of some guys shooting their rifles directly at steel plate. Bullet came straight back and shot his hat off.

I have had that too shooting at bottles set on top of the uprights flat steel. Gun sighted 2" low and bullets were coming straight back over our heads we were wondering what that noise was like angry bees coming a foot or two above our heads. Angled uprights are much safer you get your neighbor. I dont hate groundrods long island is mostly sand and glacial garbage.

Let's see,

I hate :

Those tiny screws that hold the ceiling fan light kits on. Once you drop it you know it's going to take 20 minutes to find

Tile guys that don't cut the boxes out big enough to fit in a GFI or Dimmer

Guys that use 3" long 6-32 screws where you only needed 3/4"

Customers that ask " you ever get shocked by a 220 line ? " as they stand over your shoulder watching you work.

Or parts of the vanity light that goes down the vanity drain.

Better yet, the ones who don't understand the reason there's threaded holes in that box that are needed to secure the device to it.

Or sheetrock screws.

Or go "Bzzzzzzzz!"

peeves

peeves

electricans who call in a inspection request: "Hey gus, it's jimmy (????).. .... I need an inspection. I'm not sure whos name the permit has, it's either John Wills or his wife or maybe the builder, Bob Lowe.
anyway, it's right down the street from where you found that wire that was too small. if you have any question, just call me (no number left)

and I agree with Rich R

the 3" long 6-32s or 3" long tex screws on the deadfront or panel cover..

I also cant stand when someone acts so shocked when I tell them my price to change out a subpanel. Uhm, hello! Have you been to the dentist lately, I must have made at least a few payments on her BMW after one visit.

I LOVE it when they say that! I then say; "the panel I would be installing cannot be bought at the home depot, I can only get it at my electrical supply house. I dont buy the cheapest parts and then sell them to you for top dollar. I install quality products, and I only do quality work - that is what you are paying for."

Last time I said that line, I got the job. He also asked for more work when the panel was done.

I treat my customers with much respect, but when they question my work ethic, I respectfully let them know how and why I do what I do. People like confidence.
