IMC or RMC for service riser

I intend to replace my house service cable with a riser length of straight IMC pipe with separate conductors. IMC weighs so much less than RMC. Is IMC the better choice than RMC?

Unless I'm bending the conduit, I would go with the IMC. IT is probably cheaper, besides being lighter.

Are we using this as a mast to support the service drop or just riser on side of house?

Rigid or IMC are acceptable for either, code only requires them to be strong enough to support the drop but does not tell us what is acceptable to support what kind of weight.

Some power companies have their own requirements of what they will allow.
