Is there anything that prohibits the use of them in a storage space? I know they can't be used in "Clothes Closets" but that's all I found. Did I miss anything? The space in question is a commerical storage space.

I don't know of a code issue with this install.

410.11 maybe??? I've read that a lampholder is not a luminaire not sure if that matters at all :-?

Depends on what is being stored in the storage space. Take a look at 410.6 for Luminaries installed over combustable material. This section would not prohibit lampholders but they would have to be installed at least 8 feet above the floor or shall be located or guarded so that the lamp can not be readily removed or damaged.
