Hi all,
I've researched this a bit and this has come up 2X now. Do you ever run into a situation where the POCO has installed a 12kV step down transformer inside a utility room? I'm curious because I know it's been done, but am researching the types and kinds that are in the industry. Maintenance, operations, etc.

Be advised, this is not a dry type XFRM.

Thanks

I have seen it at least twice - usually on their way out. (Usually with PCBs in them too.) I know there's various government buildings on campuses where they manage their MV supply where MV transformers are still installed in vaults, and I think most double-ended switchgear ...well indoor switchgear... meet this criteria. I saw one mall that had them on the 2nd floor - in multiple areas, with access from the roof with a crane. Usually the big concern that the utility will have is access. I think most skyscrapers meet this criteria too, but don't personally have that experience. Why do you ask? Is there something specific that you'd like the forum to weigh in on?

Not POCO transformers but look at 450.23(A), 450.24, 450.25, and 450.26
