I could not find a clear answer about this topic in the code book. What is the minimum distance for a gfci protected receptacle from the edge of a pool. The pool is located indoors. Thank You

ya I read 680.22 and I did not see anything that says indoor dwelling receptacles. I do see indoor lighting outlets. Thats not what I need.

The same rule would apply for receptacles whether the pool is installed outdoors or inside.

I read 680.22 20 times. I also have the hand book in my hand and still im not sure. I will try to be a little more clear. The pool is located indoors at a dwelling unit. The customer wants a receptacle located 5 feet from the water line of the pool. The receptacle will be used for exercise equipment. 680,22 A(4) restricted space says I could only have one.

well,....in the 08 I believe it is 6' minimum restriction with as many as you would like ,..perhaps you could talk to the AHJ .

My issue with pools is mostly one of liability,...should a tragedy occur the H.O. will forget what a nice guy you were ,and their insurance co. will look for any hook to hang a hat on. So if the AHJ allows you to use the 08 measurements ,.at the least ,..document it.
