Their ability to start and stop instantly is really nice. They also start really good when cold weather can be a problem for flourescents. They are more efficient that HID, t8's and t12's,,,but they are not more effiecient than a t5. As with anythingm they have their advantages and disadvantages. The bulb life is amazing, since there's no filament to degrade with every strike, as with most lamps.

Does anyone have anything good or bad to say about induction lighting used for a parking area?
Thanks

Parking area?
I tried some fixtures from Nuvue as a test and didn't like them too much. The light output was fine and pretty much matched the HPS, but the fixture is big and bulky.

Then we looked at retro-ing cobra heads and post lights with LED and Induction.

Induction is the cats meow for this application.

With LEDS, new fixtures or retrofits didn't have the ROI needed, too expensive for here. Townships don't pay the high KWH charge like out in Cali just yet. Retro-ing them to Induction Bulbs brings the ROI down to 3 yrs.

LED was at 6-7yrs when we got done crunching numbers.

LED, IMO will NOT be the solution. Too many variables to worry about....humidity, manufacturing process, bugs in fixtures, and power surges.

Seems like Induction bulbs are like tanks right now.

Still waiting to try fiber optic light retrofits, these could be more promising.
