I am working re-wiring a 1926 crane. The hoist motor FLA are 42.5. This motor is a wound rotor motor with slip rings on the secondary that control the speed of the motor with resistors. My question is what is the smallest size cable that I can run from the resistors to the motor. I will be using high temp wire. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

well art 610 look at 610.14 b table its a crane also 610. 14 this should help you out . take care

And 430.23. You'll need the full-load secondary current, which ought to be on the motor nameplate. You could also check the nameplate of the resistor.
