I read Mike Holt's newsletter concerning Article 645. "Information Technology Equipment". My questions is; "What is the advantage of allowances of article 645"? Is it only the permission to install cables under the raised floor or are there other advantages as well?

The main leniencies used are 645.5(E) [not securing IT listed cables, receptacle, etc], 645.5(D)(5)c. [no plenum rated cables under raised floor], 645.5(D)(4) [cords extending below a raised floor] and 645.5(D)(5) [cords extending below a raised floor]. Some other minor ones exist.

IMHO, these leniencies are not worth the headache involved with complying with the prerequisites in 645.4 and 645.5(D)(3)
