Hi All,

I have a couple questions about an Infratech Heater to be installed on my patio. The primary question is around the controller. Infratech has a "custom control box" that costs $1000+ (and manual controls that come with it that cost another 500+), but I am only installing 1 heater and I really don't want to spend twice the heater cost on controls.

I am looking to install either a 4000W or 3000W heater and I've found several heavy duty smart switches that that could be used for simple on off. However I can't find an alternative dimming solution (they have a "regulator" that pulses the heat but indicate that it reduces the life of the bulb significantly). Are there any 4000W dimmers out there that would work for this application. Preferably 4000W Smart dimmers?

The second question is related to the first and has to do with the height recommendations for installation. My preference would be to install the 4000W heater and be able to dim it down if its too intense, I would do this if I could find a dimmer solution. However, I have an install height of 7 feet and the recommended height is 8' for the 4000W (7' for the 3000W). Anyone have any experiences with these? How much more instense would the 4000W be at 7'? Would I be fine with a smart on/off switch -- I would it immediately be too intense... Realize the second question isn't really an enineering one, but any help is appreciated!!!

Thanks,
Thomas
