Hello everyone, I need your help.

I'm about to give my first estimate to wire an inground pool.

1. Round numbers, what is it going to cost me in material.

2. What is an average estimate for installation.

3. What obstacles will I encounter.

Any help would be apperciated.

We would need a lot more information in order to estimate it.
But we can take a number out of the sky and round it off to lets say $20,000.00 but that's only if the pump motor is not more then 10 feet away.

See what I mean unless we know all the information it would not be possible to estimate it.
You ask "What is an average estimate for installation"
There is none every one is different.

If you do not have a good number of inground installations under your belt, it might be a good idea to pass on it, or recommend a seasoned contractor that has pool experience.

1. # of pumps and HPs
2. spa?
3. how many pool light
4. type of control system,

its take a day to wire up a whole pool system. (you and a helper).

How would he get experience doing them, if he keeps passing on them?

pool estimate

Find out how many pumps, heaters, pool lights, landscape lights, who will be doing the pool grounding, will the pool contractor be doing all the excavation,, distance to the main service thru the exisiting home, local codes, residential or commercial?, pump controls, timeclocks, aqualink systems, and so forth. You need to take all the variables into consideration before submitting a quote for installation. Some of these pool installations can be quite detailed.

just rememeber that a whole pool contract is about ave. about 45-$60k. and electrical wiring is a small part of that contract. for a ball park price will be
labor+wires+conduit+other=$4k. many time the pool contractor does their own electrical work.

Some obstacles that can be a real pain are bonding window/door frames within 10 ft of pool. Also make sure existing electrical on the rear of house is code comlpiant ie lighting ,receptacle and J-box distances. These can become a real nightmare/headache if overlooked. If the pool isn't close do the house then disregard

Thanks for your input guys.

I've been avoiding inground pool installations for a long time.

I figure I should at least try it.

As was mentioned, how am I going to get the experience unless I start doing them.

You shouldn't avoid them.

But you need to give us a little more than "How much does it cost?"

Is it 10' or 100' to the pool pump?
Is the ground completely concreted over or is it dirt?
etc.

I didn't give details because the customer hasn't picked out the type of pool they want.

I was just trying to prepare myself with info before i have to give them a price. They should be ready in out 2 months.

When i get more info, I'll post the details. Thanks for you help.
