I have a customer that wanted a "pigtail" for his boiler so that in case of power outage he can connect it to a generator.
I know that it is a code violation and a UL violation to do that. Can I use an inlet ( nema5-15), and a DPDT wallbox toggle switch to achieve what he wants, and still be code and UL compliant? IMHO, the switch will give me isolation to prevent a backfeed, and the inlet keeps the boiler hardwired.
Am I correct, or at least close?
