Inside main breaker getting hot and sometimes tripping

I have a 25 year old manuf home 2000 sq ft that main breaker sometimes trips or gets very hot when heat pump runs for a long time,,,is it main breaker getting ready to fail or possibly heat pump compressor,,warranty on heat pump is up in few months so i want to make sure i find out whats the issue and fix it,,a overheating breaker scares the hell out of me
