Inspectors job

I am late to this thread but it is a good one.

I would be interested in a list of gray areas in the code and think I will start a thread asking for them. I know of a few and fortunately they don't come up very often. The most obvious example is 225.32 and 230.70.

One problem in enforcing the NEC are the answers are not limited to the NEC articles like 110.3 B bring in other sources such was the case for SE cable in underground conduit. UL listing states " Types SE-Indicates cable for above ground installation"

In NJ an inspector must be able to cite a code section if they fail you. I always encourage my students to question an inspector's decission. Inspectors make mistakes. We inspectors are not gods. We're demigods.

99.99% of the EC out there are trying to work per code and if they can't question my decission they might do it the way I say here but go back to their old method else where. But if they feel free to question me and I can convince them of the code issue they will change their methods from then on.
