Electrcial Inspectors what is your position on the post and comemnts:

I am especially curious how would you handle a temporary workspace that is provided on an ad-hoc basis?
  1. How can you be sure that it will be properly used in the future if it is a portable platform and
  2. how would you deal with: "We will build one when it is needed, but we don't have one right now?"

The answer to #1 is it won't be and the answer to #2 it is needed.

If I have one pet peeve it is working space (not 2' 11", 3 feet!), but I also don't consider it just working space. 110.26 "Sufficient access and working space....", if you need to get to it in a hurry to shut something off, you don't really have time to be setting down a temporary platform.

Yes I have seen switch gear up on a mezzanine that you needed to climb a ladder to get to and thats fine as long as it a permenant ladder and when you get up there you have the required clearance.
