I'd appreciate your help here. I am planning to install the transfer switch inside and it will be recessed in the wall. So all the internal wiring will be behind the sheetrock wall.
  • If I were to use SE cable 4/0-4/0-4/0-2/0 Gray Stranded AL SER (https://www.homedepot.com/p/Southwi...Gray-Stranded-AL-SER-Cable-13107899/205001904) , do I need to use a conduit inside the walls or I need to use a conduit only outside?
  • If the answer to (1) is that I need to use a conduit inside the walls, when I run it through a stud, can I cut the conduit on both sides of the stud (so I do not have to cut a 2” hole in the 2x4 stud). This way I would not have to make a 2” hole (but only 1”) and I will not need additional support for the stud. It seem to be an easier solution. Is this allowed?
  • Can a cable from generator to transfer switch be a lower gauge then 4/0 as the generator can’t output more than 80amp. Can I use 2/0 awg service entrance cable?
  • Is there a requirement for the minimal diameter of the PVC conduit for the 200amp service and for the generator?
