I need to install a 30 kva transformer above a bathroom ceiling which will be Sheetrock. It will be accessible by an open space through adjacent room which is getting no ceiling. Above the bathroom ceiling will be plywood laid down. The print calls for the transformer to be mounted in this space. Unfortunately I cannot suspend xfmr due to large ductwork covering basically every option there is to hang it. If framing is strong enough to hold transformer, Can I place this 30 kva transformer on top of bathroom with the plywood on the bottom of it?

Yes there would plenty of room for my clearances. I know the 30 kva transformer does not weigh a whole lot. Thanks for the response

Quite possibly okay, but I'd RFI the EOR (engineer of record) and get him to sign off on it, in writing. CYA :happyyes:

I have plenty of room for my clearances. Thank you I'll just have to make sure the ceiling is structually able to handle the load, even though it doesn't weigh that much

Be patient-- your posts must be okayed by a moderator until the software recognizes you. You may not see the first few posts at first but they are there. I believe you are clear now

Since commercial spaces change all of the time would you want to risk someone demoing the ceiling and having a 300+ pound transformer fall on them?

Thanks for the responses. The location of the proposed transformer location I believe is not doable. I agree about placing a transformer on top of a structure like that. I think its best the engineer comes up with a better location. Again thanks for all the informative responses.
