Installing Arc-fault breakers in generator transfer switch

From what I understand- 'If you feed a main AFCI breaker from a generator transfer switch, it must be same in switch' (so as not to negate protection). Can anyone clarify\confirm code and proper installation- and comment further on this? The panel I will be using is a Reliance Protran 2 308A.

You move your main AFCI's down into transfer switch by extending the hot and neutral down into it. The ground can stay in the main since transfer neutral and ground will go to it.

If you move AFCI from main to transfer switch- it won't have power when switched back to LINE. I'm thinking he meant 'jump neutral' and run to switch (to tie into the transfer switch AFCI).
Will post when clarified.
